Canadian Dental Care Plan
General Information

What is the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)?

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federally administered public dental care program introduced by the Government of Canada in December 2023. Its purpose is to help eligible Canadian residents access essential dental care when they do not have private dental insurance.

The CDCP is administered by Sun Life on behalf of the federal government and is intended to support oral health by covering a broad range of medically necessary dental services.

What does the CDCP cover?

The CDCP provides coverage for many common and essential dental services, including:

Preventive care
- Routine dental exams and check-ups
- Professional cleanings (scaling)
- Fluoride treatments
- Sealants (where clinically appropriate)

Diagnostic services
- Oral examinations
- X-rays needed to assess dental conditions

Restorative services
- Fillings
- Crowns and other treatments to repair damaged teeth

Endodontic services
- Root canal treatments
- Periodontal (gum) care
- Deep cleanings and treatments for gum disease

Prosthodontic services
- Complete and partial dentures

Oral surgery
- Tooth extractions and other necessary surgical procedures

Coverage is based on clinical need and may include co-payments depending on household income. Not all services may be covered in every situation.

Main content

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place, instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and start writing.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop the element into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

To style the headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and captions inside your rich text element, first:

  1. Give the rich text element a class
  2. Select the element within the rich text that you want to style — a blockquote, for example
  3. Click the + sign below the selector field to “Nest selector inside of” your rich text element’s class

How to customize formatting for each rich text element
